Carlos Alonso - Douro Wine Company

Our friends at Carlos Alonso founded their wine company in 1985. They have a deep knowledge of the Douro region, the ability to cultivate and obtain the best grapes, as well as a respect for tradition, ethics and responsibility. This defines a company that since its establishment has been able to innovate and adapt to the changing times.

Their Mission is to celebrate Douro, nourishing life to the soil that their terroir provides them with. The independent character of Carlos Alonso Douro Wine Company nurtures personal relationships with local farmers and producers, partnerships established with their grape suppliers for decades. Focused on local development, they strengthen the company’s bond with those who enjoy excellent quality wines and whose loyalty makes part of their authenticity.

In each wine, they tell a story, take on an identity, a reflection of the vineyard that gave birth to it. They honor what the previous generation has given to them, committing themselves to the production and harvest of the best quality grapes. Their winemaking processes allow the grapes to reflect their natural qualities, through a rigorous selection of wine batches.

Their vineyards are situated in the heart of Douro Valley, in the rustic village of Alijó, on the right margin of the Douro River, with different sun exposures and altitudes to better reflect the full potential and versatility of their terroir leading to the production of great wines.
